Day 1 Hanoi, Vietnam

Arrive in Hanoi and transfer to hotel.

Day 2 Hanoi (B)

A morning sightseeing tour of Hanoi’s historical and cultural sites: Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (façade only), Ba Dinh Square, One-pillar pagoda (Buddhist temple) and The Temple of Literature (Confucius temple). In the afternoon, enjoy a 'cyclo' ride around the Old Quarter and the traditional water puppet show.

Day 3 Hanoi – Halong Bay Overnight Junk (B,L,D)

After breakfast take a scenic drive to Halong Bay and transfer by tender to a deluxe traditional wooden Junk. Enjoy the spectacular view of the bay. Tonight enjoy dinner onboard and overnight on the Junk.

Day 4 Halong Bay – Hanoi – Luang Prabang, Laos (B,D)

Sail back to Halong and transfer to Hanoi Airport for a short flight to Luang Prabang. Arrive in Luang Prabang and transfer to hotel. The tranquility and charm of this town with its splendid natural scenery and cultural sights make it one of the most delightful places to visit in Laos. Tonight experience one of Laos' oldest traditions, The Baci ceremony to celebrate special events such as weddings, births, traveling, welcoming friends and farewells. The purpose of this ancient belief is to call back escaped souls to the body, this will re-establish harmony and balance to the body.

Day 5 Luang Prabang - Embarkation (B,L,D)

Breakfast at hotel, you will be transferred to embark on your Mekong Cruise vessel, a comfortable boutique-cruise ship. After you settle into your cabin, begin with a guided walk up Phou Si-hill, which offers a spectacular sunset view over the Mekong as well as the Khan River and the surrounding mountains. In the evening, enjoy strolling along the Mekong promenade or visiting the colorful night market of the local Hmong minority. Enjoy the spacious decks, lounge onboard and attend our welcome reception this evening. A selection of Asian and European food will be provided throughout the cruise. Overnight in your cabin onboard your river vessel.

Day 6 Luang Prabang (B,L,D)

In the early morning you will be able to observe the traditional giving of alms in the streets of Luang Prabang. Breakfast is onboard. We have a guided city tour with visits to the morning market, National Museum, and Wat Mai. We continue the drive to Ban Xang Kong and Ban Xieng Lex where you will see a traditional Laos weaving village. Lunch will be served at Sonphao Restaurant. Your spectacular cruise departs from Luang Prabang around 3 p.m., cruising north through beautiful scenery. Overnight onboard your river vessel.

Day 7 Pak Ou Caves (B,L,D)

Breakfast is onboard. 8:30 a.m. begin cruising slowly across the Mekong to explore the famous Pak Ou Caves, with thousands of small Buddha statues inside the cave. After a short walk through the jungle (optional) you visit a Laotian village. In the village you can observe how the local liqueur, Lao-Lao, is being distilled traditionally. Return to Mekong vessel for lunch. Enjoy a few hours of cruising down the Mekong River amidst beautiful landscapes. We arrive Ban Hadtrue around 5 p.m. Enjoy Dinner and Overnight onboard your river vessel.

Day 8 Disembarktion– Luang Prabang - Siem Reap (B,D)

In the morning visit Ban Hadtre village ('Lao Lum' with more than 100 houses ,temple, school). After breakfast, the ship will head south to the Mekong ferry crossing at Tha Deua, stop at Ban Huaykire where you will see H-Mong daily life. Further downstream you will discover some of the most remarkable, most impressive landscapes of this still-untamed river. The landscape becomes more and more spectacular: hills covered with tropical vegetation, awe-inspiring rock formations along the river banks, and a fascinating array of fast currents and slower river parts. The power of the mighty Mekong will give your cruise the feeling of a real expedition. Disembarkation and farewell to the Laotian crew. Transfer to airport for flight to Siem Reap. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel.

Day 9 Siem Reap – Angkor (B)

After breakfast, begin your guided sightseeing tour of the Angkor Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Highlights include Angkor Thom, the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King, Bayon. This afternoon, visit Angkor Wat.

Day 10 Siem Reap – Angkor (B)

This morning, travel through rural countryside to the pink sandstone temple of Banteay Srei. Then visit Ta Prohm, the temple famous for its intertwined trees (showcased in the film Tomb Raider).

Day 11 Siem Reap – Tonle Sap Lake/Embarkation – Kampong Chhnang (B,L,D)

Transfer to the meeting point and drive to Tonle Sap Lake to embark on the luxurious cruise. Enjoy your Welcome Dinner onboard while cruising to Kampong Chhnang.

Day 12 Kampong Chhnang – Kampong Tralach-Oudong (B,L,D)

After breakfast, a motor boat excursion to the lakeside wetlands that form the mouth of the Tonle Sap River. Enjoy a stunning variety of birdlife and numerous great fish traps. Return to ship and cast off towards Kampong Tralach. An afternoon tour includes an oxcart ride from the river bank through the countryside to the beautiful Wat Kapong Tralach Pleu. Tour the pagodas then drive to Oudong, the former capital of Cambodia to visit the Buddhist monastery. Return to the ship and continue cruising towards the village of Chong Koh.

Day 13 Chong Koh – Phnom Penh (B,L,D)

This morning, visit the Chong Koh silk-weaving village for a leisurely walk before departing for Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. An afternoon walking tour provides an orientation to this spectacular city. Return to the vessel for dinner and a special Khmer folk performance onboard. The vessel moors overnight in Phnom Penh.

Day 14 Phnom Penh (B,L,D)

Spend the morning exploring the highlights of Cambodia’s capital city, famous for its French colonial architecture, busy cafes, vibrant nightlife and renovated river 'corniche.' Visit the Royal Palace, the spectacular Silver Pagoda and the National Museum for its outstanding displays of Khmer crafts. After lunch onboard, another excursion to the infamous Killing Fields and the Khmer Rouge’s grim Tuol Sleng or S21 detention center (Genocide Museum) situated in the suburbs of the city. An overnight on the waterfront provides an opportunity to dine in one of many nearby restaurants and experience Phnom Penh’s vibrant nightlife.

Day 15 Phnom Penh – Border Crossing – Tan Chau, Vietnam (B,L,D)

Spend a day onboard crossing the border to Tan Chau, Vietnam.

Day 16 Tan Chau – Sa Dec (B,L,D)

After breakfast, transfer to small boat for a ride to visit a catfish farm, rattan mat and slipper-making workshops on an evergreen island. Back ashore, a traditional 'xe-loi' (trishaw) is waiting to transport you around Tan Chau. Return to the ship and continue cruising downstream to Sa Dec where the ship moors overnight.

Day 17 Sa Dec – Xeo Quyt – Cai Be (B,L,D)

In the morning, transfer to a small local boat for a ride passing the floating markets along the river’s channels. Once ashore, visit Sa Dec’s local market, the Fujian Temple and the house of Mr. Huynh Thuy Le, the French writer and Marguerite Dumas’ lover. Then take a ride to Xeo Quyt, a base during the French and U.S. wars and now an important ecological site. A boat ride to visit Cai Be’s spectacular floating market and go ashore to see candy and rice paper workshops. Enjoy a gourmet Farewell Dinner onboard.

Day 18 Saigon – Disembark (B,L)

Our cruise comes to an end as the ship docks at My Tho Port. Transfer to Saigon to meet our tour guide and have lunch. Spend the afternoon exploring Saigon and its surrounding area: the former Presidential Palace, Central Post Office, Notre Dame Cathedral, Cho Lon (China Town), Binh Tay market and Thien Hau pagoda. Stay overnight in Saigon.

Day 19 Depart Saigon (B)

Transfer to the airport for your homebound flight.
