The province is well-known for Phong Nha & Ke Bang National Park, about 500 km south of the capital Hanoi, within the Quang Binh Province at the narrowest part of Vietnam. Phong Nha-Ke Bang is representative of a limestone landscape. According to the research of BCRA, Phong Nha over a 200,000 hectares, has by far the longest underground rivers, the largest caverns and passageways, the widest and prettiest sand banks, and the most astonishing rock Formations.
Dong Hoi has 12-km-long coastline with white sand beaches and is the closest city to Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, UNESCO’s World Natural Heritage Site located 50 km north of the city.
