The mixing of cultures in Ayutthaya began in the mid-16th century when ships from Ayutthaya plied the Asian seas, trading with neighboring countries. The tour starts at the Summer Palace of the late King Rama V, commonly known as “Bang Pa-In”, which is another place of beauty. Continue to the magnificent ruins of early splendor that Ayutthaya is famous for all over the world. A bicycle could be provided if you wish to view parts of the ruins on wheels. After lunch, visit Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon. This monastery was constructed by King U-Thong, who exhumed the bodies of Chao Kaeo and Chao Thai who died of cholera and were cremated in 1357. The monastery was dedicated to the monks who had gone to study practical Buddhism in Ceylon. Check into a hotel and the rest of the evening is free at leisure.
