Today, embark on an exciting excursion to the charming rural town of Cai Thia. Your adventure begins with a boat ride through tranquil waterways; immerse yourself in local culture and witness the villagers’ daily lives. Visit a traditional home to see the art of rice paper making, surrounded by the enticing aromas of fresh fruits, sweet treats, and a cup of fragrant tea. Next, explore My Luong Island on foot or by bicycle, meandering through quaint pathways and lush orchards and visiting a local school and market. Continue heading to An Binh Island for a relaxing sampan ride along winding canals, enjoying the peaceful sounds of nature. The sweet melodies of Southern Vietnamese folk music will enrich the day. Savor a delicious meal at a local house before checking into our homestay, where you will join the host family to cook authentic Southern Vietnamese dishes and enjoy dinner together. Overnight homestay.

After breakfast, say farewell to the host family. Then, walk to visit the local workshop to see how to make coconut candy, pop-rice. etc. Then we take a boat trip back to Vinh Long town and a walking tour to the fascinating Vinh Long Market before driving to Can Tho where we stay overnight.

In the morning, we visit Cai Rang Floating Market, the biggest floating market in the Mekong Delta. All shops and stalls at the market are boats and barges of different sizes. It is a most interesting sight showcasing highlights of the abundant, colorful and bustling river life in the Delta. Then we will transfer to Chau Doc (driving time approx. 3-3.5hrs). Have lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, we take a boat to visit a fish farm and see how the Mekong Delta people raise fish from their floating houses, visit the Cham minority in their traditional weaving village. Visit the Regional Goddess Temple known as “Mieu Ba Chua Xu in Vietnamese”, walking through Chau Doc market nearby.

After breakfast, we visit Tra Su Cajuput Forest. The forest has hundreds of thousands of birds (about 62 species). The environmentally protected Tra Su Cajuput Forest was first planted in 1983, and now includes 845 hectares of forest. Of this area, 713 hectares form a habitat for storks, and other birds such as the grey heron, the fiery stork and the spot billed-duck. The endangered yellow baya weaver is only found here. Return to Chau Doc. Have lunch and visit Sam Mountain, location of Phuoc Dien Tu or the Hang Pagoda. We climb the 400 steps to the top to visit the pagoda.

In the morning, journey to Sa Dec and be amazed by the beauty of all types of flowers and bonsai in one of the flower centers of Southern Vietnam. Immerse yourself in the friendly culture of Sa Dec Central Market and see the famous ancient house of Marguerite Duras’ legendary lover, Mr. Huynh Thuy Le. Drive back to Saigon.
