Itinerary

Day 1Arrive in Hanoi

Meet your tour guide and private transfer to hotel.

Day 2Hanoi (B,L)

Visit the Museum of Ethnology, One Pillar Pagoda, Temple of Literature, Hoan Kiem Lake. Lunch at local restaurant. Visit “54 Traditions Gallery” (antiques, artifacts and art of 54 minority groups). Traditional cycle ride through French quarter.

Day 3Hanoi – Van Phuc Silk Village - Night Train to Lao Cai (B,D)

Visit Van Phuc Silk village, is renowned for its traditional weaving and premium quality silk products. Dinner at a local restaurant. Transfer to the rail station for the overnight train to Lao Cai.

Day 4Arrive Lao Cai – Sapa – Ta Van Village (B,L)

Arrive in Lao Cai and drive to Sapa. Short walking to the valley of Lao Chai and Ta Van village of the Black H’Mong and Giay groups. Learn the process of indigo dying and hemp weaving.

Day 5Sapa - Ta Phin (B,L)

Morning, drive to visit Ham Rong Mountain. Climb up to the San May and enjoy the panoramic views and stop at the orchid garden. Drive through the scenic valley and take a short trek to enjoy spectacular views with great photographic opportunities. Visit “Ta Phin” village to learn embroidery from Red Dao women.

Day 6Sapa – Bac Ha market - Hanoi (B,D)

Drive to Bac Ha. Visit the market of local ethnic groups – Enjoy shopping among the kaleidoscopic, bead encrusted, Flower H’Mong.

Day 7Hanoi – Siem Reap (B)

Transfer to airport for flight to Siem Reap. Arrive in Siem Reap and transfer to your hotel.

Day 8SiemReap – Angkor Wat – Angkor Thom (B,L,D)

Visit the National Angkor Museum and explore the wondrous Angkor Wat Temple Complex, Angkor Thom included the grand Bayon Temple, the South Gate, Bapoun, the Terrace of the Elephant and Leper King. Hike up Phnom Bakheng for a spectacular sunset view of Angkor Wat.
Optional – Khmer Aspara dinner performance at Angkor Village.

Day 9Siem Reap – IKTT – Banteeay Srei – Ta Prohm (B,L)

Morning, visit the Institute for Khmer Traditional Textiles to learn about golden silk, natural dyes and the revival of silk ikat. Afternoon visit Banteay Srei temple, the Citadel of Women and the magical Ta Prohm temple.

Day 10Siem Reap – Angkor Silk Farm - Vientiane (B)

Visit a silk farm to learn intricate details of silkworm farming, and observe silk weaving workshops. Lunch on own at Sala Bai Restaurant, an NGO training center for Disadvantaged young Cambodians.
Late Afternoon, take a short flight to Vientiane. Meet your guide and transfer to hotel.

Day 11Vientiane (B)

Full day city tour: Wat Sisaket, the only intact temple after the Siamese invasion in 1828. Wat Phra Keo, and its collection of Lao and Khmer works of art, the Presidential Palace. Wat Simuang – the most venerated temple in Vientiane. That Luang, the holiest site in Laos, and Patuxay monument, Laos’ version of the Arc de Triomphe. The fascinating Laos Textile Museum.

Day 12Vientiane – Luang Prabang(B)

Transfer to the airport for flight to Luang Prabang. Upon arrival meet your guide and transfer to hotel. Afternoon, climb up to Mount Phousi to enjoy the sacred, gilded stupa and amazing views. Evening, shop at the night market.

Day 13Luang Prabang – Kuang Si Waterfall (B,L)

Tour start at the former Royal Palace (National Museum), WatVisoun and the shrine of WatAham. Drive to Wat Mai, famous for its gold bas-relief, Wat Sensoukarahm for its golden façade, the magnificent Wat Xiengthong. Drive to the mesmerizing Khuang Si Waterfalls.
Optional evening, experience a Baci ceremony to celebrate special events, and re-establish harmony and balance.

Day 14Luang Prabang – Work Shop Laos Textiles (B,L)

Visit the fantastic world of Lao Textiles at at Ock Pop Tok in Luang Prabang. Participate in the art of dye preparation and make your own scarf.

Day 15Luang Prabang – Pak Ou – Pakbeng (B,L)

Cruise up the Mekong River to Pakbeng, and visit the Pak Ou caves and Tham Ting and Tam Phoum. Stop at the rice alcohol producing village of Ban Baw. Overnight at Luang Say Lodge. Dinner on your own.

Day 16Pakbeng – Houei Sai – Lanjia Lodge (B,L, D)

The boat leaves early and stops at a Kamu village at Ban Houy Phalam. In the evening, transfer to Lanjia Lodge and evening is free at leisure.

Day 17Hmong Experience - (B,L,D)

Full day discovery of the traditions of ethnic groups living near the Mekong. Experience from Hmong women in making a batik handkerchief. Walking to the Lahu communities. In the evening, enjoy an authentic dinner, followed by a Hmong and Lahu music and dance performance.

Day 18Golden Triangle – Chiang Mai (B,L,D)

After breakfast, drive to the Golden Triangle (the borders of Myanmar, Laos and Thailand). Transfer to Chiang Mai. Visit Wat Rong Khun, the famous white temple. Arrive in Chiang Mai. Check in hotel.

Day 19Chiang Mai – Workshop Thai Textiles (B,L)

Full day of natural indigo dyeing workshops including instruction on shibouri techniques and natural dye methods. Create your own tie-dye textile.

Day 20Chiang Mai – Doi Suthep (B)

Today, visit Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, a revered mountain temple, Lanna House Museum and Wat Suan Dok, where monks explain Buddhism and their daily activities. End tour at a local market.

Day 21Chiang Mai Departure (B)

Morning is free at leisure. Check out of hotel by noon, transfer to the airport for flight home.
